"It is more that some Sith of the past refuse to leave even in death. I'm sure the echos of what remained of them is what infected him."
And as far as he knows the man and his followers stayed inside the tomb and probably died there. It wasn't as though there was anything in there to really sustain them.
Malgus himself walked up to the throne and sat down on it, reminiscing slightly over his failed attempt to usurp the entire dark council. Though his plan ultimately failed, he did manage to incite some change though it doesn't seem that it lasted over the years.
"I only briefly sat at this Council. Sith politics left much to be desired. So much arguing and disagreeing."
He found a wall to prop himself against, and then decided that, no, never mind, he'd rather sit.
"Ah, that does make more sense." Not the power of the human, then, but actual weakness allowing corruption, he supposed. He looked up at Malgus on the throne and snorted. "I was on the Jedi Council for a time. Until the end, in fact. We could have used a bit more disagreement, I think. Too much unity is... as deadly as there not being enough."
"I headed the Sphere of Military defense after the defeat of another Sith who formally held the position. Soon after, I defected to create a new empire." He waved a hand as he spoke. Stories of the past. Nothing more.
"I imagine the Jedi Council was nothing more than peaceful discussions." He said that with a bit of disdain in his voice. The Dark Council usually ended up in disagreements and sometimes those could be fatal.
"The Sith did not often openly murder one another. They resorted to backstabbing and other cowardly methods. An out right challenge? Oh those happened, but rarely in the company of others. This is why I did not choose to go for a seat. Their politics annoyed me and threatened to destroy us more often than not. My ideologies made me far too controversial to hold a chair long in any case."
And he preferred to be out there in the front lines of battle. Sitting in a chair and barking orders was not ... warrior enough for his tastes. Fighting drove him and helped keep his skills sharp.
"And yet you seem quite fond of sitting on a throne now. Will politics be any different if you're soley in charge?" That was not a challenge, just a clumsily worded question.
And clumsily worded because, ultimately, this place was killing him.
"A throne of a broken era, now it is nothing more than a chair to an empty room save for us."
Though he does not answer Ben's question, he does give him a look, studying him slightly. He rises from the throne, gesturing with a hand for Obi-Wan to follow as he moves past.
"Where is the current Empire stationed? Do you know where their main base of operations is located?"
"I have not the slightest idea where the Emperor and Vader spend the majority of their time and haven't cared to look. It should not be hard to discover."
He simply hadn't wanted to know.
He falls into step beside rather than directly behind Malgus, but is still more or less being led.
"You are of little help Jedi. We will leave before you wither to nothing. I have no use of a dead ally." Why yes he did just refer to Ben as an ally instead of a hostage.
"What world would be best suited for you? Though I am unaware of the changes a galaxy can undertake in 3000 years, I imagine due to the circumstances Coruscant is out of the picture. What about Dantooine? Do the Jedi still have their secret enclave there?"
He'll make his way back to the ship not looking back to see if Ben was following mostly because he was sure he'd do so anyway.
"You could take me to Coruscant, but not if you prefer a live ally."
He'd take the ally and he'd take getting the hell out of here. He did want the Emperor dead, this was his best opportunity to make that happen. He wasn't going to argue - or trust it beyond that, because he was not stupid.
"I have no idea what is still intact on Dantooine. He saw heavy action during the war. It's certainly worth a try."
"Before my imprisonment that is where I was headed," he said simply before heading up the ramp of the ship. "I assume you know the way."
He'll let Ben fly. He still has a lot of thinking to do. He has no army, little knowledge of the current state things beyond what the holorecords show.
Not to mention the reconditioning done to his mind, though with the Empress dead he probably has little to worry about there. It does haunt him. He should take care of it before facing the new Sith Emperor just in case.
He will not be someone's slave or serve anyone by force. That went against everything he believed in.
Malgus holds up a hand, not defensively but rather to stop Ben's line of thought right there.
"Not completely. The Sith in power ... did something to my mind. A reconditioning if you will. Other treatments as well, but I was able to remove those ... a few by force. Cybernetic loyalty chips. Explosive implants. They did everything in their power turn me into a loyal servant. But I would not bow in servitude."
He paused for a brief moment before continuing.
"This was the one part of my body the medical droids could not repair."
Malgus did not particularly like discussing this topic with a Jedi. Especially since it was something akin of a weakness.
"Recurring dreams of an event I am uncertain actually took place. Commanding I return and the consequences of failure to do so. Previously a medical droid cautioned that it was affecting my ... vitals."
"Sounds like something a woman I would have slept with would have said," he said, amused.
Good, much more on script.
"I'll try to keep my mind to myself, otherwise, and I'd appreciate it if you let me." Meaning don't go dragging up his shit or he'll find a way to make everything unpleasant for everyone.
"I do not care for you personal secrets, Jedi," he said plainly though he might have been slightly amused by the previous comment.
Though as far as he knows Jedi do not get into personal relationships. And Sith, even with Freedom being in their code, seem locked behind ignorant politics and traditions.
"If you are able to fix this, then I shall keep the secret of whatever it is you were protecting on Tatooine and your existence."
"Oh, good, I love it when someone tries to bribe me for something I was going to do anyway." That wasn't sarcasm, he really did. He didn't trust Malgus, but it was a nice bit of reassurance and leverage, and he'd take it.
"Take over the ship and let me meditate a bit then I'll be with you."

Or, well, physically brawl.
...he can think of at least once he deeply wished he'd considered physically brawling with other Council Members. Namely Mace and Yoda.

He didn't actually mind piloting. It was the flying part he hated.
"What were you going to do when you got there?"
no subject
"Years before my time, it was said that the Jedi on Dantooine once used the Force to wipe the mind on a Sith. I went seeking their method."
That wasn't all of it, but it was the truth.
no subject
That cannot be right.
Cannot be.

For a moment or two.
They were Sith.
"What is it you need to have removed now?"

Nor did he care.
"I can't wipe anyone's mine, but I Can place blocks around it. If it's a current problem."
no subject
Though finding Jedi information and using it himself was far different than letting an actual Jedi anywhere near his mind.
"But it will have to do."

Any death threats to be made?
no subject
There's your threat Ben. Mess with his head in unintended ways and he'll end you personally and not even use the force to do it.
